A little break!
A few days in Paris for Easter, going to Eglise de St Germain-des-pres then lunch at les editeurs restaurant with family. Lots of walks, lots of talks. We then caught a train to Amsterdam; and happy birthday to the king! It's Koningsdag. Our daughter joined the street bazaar—attempting to sell off some of her toys and clothes while we got to catch up with friends and neighbors.
Trains are late, but no need to complain, we make it to Rijswijk, where Dina gives a walk-and-talk through her solo show at the Museum Rijswijk.
Nothing like improvised drinks followed by pizza and Risotto! Diana Stigter and David van Doesburg, Dina's gallerists in Amsterdam join us for this improvisation.
And we head back to Amsterdam. Back to business:
Jean-Baptiste starts plannning the display of his paintings for his upcoming solo show at Martin van Zomeren Gallery, opening this June 14th 2025. Meanwhile, we stay connected with Hanaa Shawky, John O'Carroll, and Joseph Bull, as they complete the final firings of our last blue batches in the Fustat workshop.
Now, we’re back in Cairo and ready to proceed. Yesterday we visited Jameel Art Center and met with Ahmed Hamid who advised us on firing techniques and kilns.
Just across the street we headed back to the pottery village and picked up our test samples and materials. Dina has been obsessively organizing every recipe with its accompanying image/ result. Hanaa will be adding her observations. Ready for sorting all our samples as we think that they are nearly ready for luminescence testing!
